Majestic Creek Country Club
Majestic Creek Golf Club and Resort (1995)
Designer: Dr Sukitti Klangvisai
Course: 27 Holes Par 72
Majestic Creek is one of the newest courses to open in the Hua Hin area, and the journey towards the course offers rural views of Thai life. Small farms producing sugar cane, pineapple, bananas and mangos line the route out to the course.
Majestic offers superb golf holes in an exciting layout. The opening hole has a wealth of potential problems, and decisions have to be made. An easy par four for those of us who want to take the conventional route, or if you are the adventurous golfer, then trying to cut the dog-leg corners will really test your skill. The hazards of the 1st hole will never be far away, and precedes a succession of exciting and equally demanding holes.
Mountain side location, Majestic offers natural hazards as well as the local designers own input, and will offer a round full of excitement and challenge to any golfer.
The club house offers all the facilities that one could wish for, and a personal escort is even at hand to take you to the first hole for tee off.
Palm Hills
Palm Hills Golf Club and Residence
Designer: Max Waxler
Course: 18 holes Par 72
Palm Hills was the first of a new generation of courses to open in 1991. And was the first course in Hua Hin to stage the Thailand World Pro Am in 1993 gaining much praise from the British PGA.
Only 10 minutes from downtown Hua Hin you can experience the rolling and gently undulating fairways provide Palm Hills with it’s own individual identity. The only exception to the gentle terrain is on the 10th hole, where a semi-blind tee shot is encountered from the side of an imposing limestone mountain. Water is also a hazard especially on the 2nd, 8th, 11th and 14th holes. “toppers” beware!
Being a “new generation” course, Palm Hills has great clubhouse facilities. Thai-style design with American-style facilities for the golfer who requires more than just a round, the Country Club offers a large swimming pool, Tennis, badminton & squash courts, and a fully equipped Gymnasium for the really energetic. Palm Hills is now a booming real-estate location, offering some of the best investment opportunities in Hua Hin
Overall this is a wonderful course with experienced, friendly caddies and staff. Palm Hills also offers some of the best views over the Gulf of Thailand.
Black Mountain Golf Course
Black Mountain is the ‘Jewel in the Crown’ of golf in Hua Hin.
Everything about it is 1st class; from the highly manicured fairways and greens to the award winning restaurant (serving both Thai and European food) and clubhouse facilities. Also 5 star practice and teaching facilities. Caddies are compulsory and necessary to help you gain most advantage of position, both on fairways and especially on greens.
Black Mountain the host of two Asian Tour events and in 2015 will host a co-sponsored European and Asian Tour event.
Possibly one of the finest courses in Asia, Black Mountain will challenge and delight you, whatever your standard of golf.
Imperial Lake View Golf Course
SInland through small farms and pineapple plantations Lake View is another example of the quality of Golf Courses in and around Hua Hin. The design of this championship course conveys a sense of adventure. Hidden greens, mature palm trees and well defined fairways are on offer throughout this course, and spot decisions have to be made from the opening hole, as potential problems lie ahead. Easy par’s are on offer for those of us that want to take them. How adventurous are you feeling? This course also offers a test for courage and putting expertise.
Lake view has a par of 72 and a championship length of more than 6900 yards from the back trees. This course offers exciting and demanding play for the experienced golfer, but will also accommodate the occasional enthusiast. Other leisure activities are also available in Lake View’s magnificent club house. Including tennis and squash.
Banyan Golf Club
Banyan Golf Club, Hua Hin (2008)
Designer: Pirapon Namatra
Course: 18 Holes Par 72
Banyan Golf Club is the most spectacular course in Hua Hin. Set in the mountains with a backdrop of the mountains of Myanmar, beauty surrounds you.
Banyan Thailand Hua Hin opened in 2008, and has won numerous awards for both the course and the clubhouse. The natural feel of the course belies the challenge it offers. The caddies are very well trained and using a buggy is such a bonus at this course as it has GPS on board, giving you every distance you could want on every hole. It’s 15th par 3 hole is its signature hole, with gorgeous views over the ocean, a great spot to stop for a break. Just in case you want to know, the types of grass used here are Paspalum on the tee boxes, Zoysia on the fairways & rough and Tifeagle for the greens.
The course is offers you 18 of the most beautiful golf holes, each unique, each taking thought to give you a great round.
When you finish you round have a glass at ‘Mulligans’ bar and watch the sunset over Myanmar; STUNNING. Then eat at the excellent restaurant overlooking the course.
Banyan offers both practice and professional coaching services to sharpen your play.
Springfield Royal Country Resort
This course was designed by Jack Nicklaus, and opened in 1993. It has gained a reputation of being one of the finest courses in Thailand, and is now established as a golfers’ must, while in Hua Hin or Cha-am.
The course its self has been designed to meet the needs of a championship course, but maintains an enjoyable challenge for golfers of all standards. Starting with a par 4 the first hole is a gentle 367 yards from the white tee, and on appearance looks to be quite simple. Hopes can quickly fade, as the well protected green can prove difficult and requires accuracy. Overall with the cleverly devised layout, views over streams, lakes & the gulf of Thailand, you will find this course very addictive.
Springfield offers other first class facilities apart from the course. The club house was constructed in an elevated position that will leave you with a lasting impression. The interior is beautifully finished in polished marble and granite, and portrays a feeling of opulence associated with grand palaces.
An additional 9 holes was opened in 2005 which is not proving to be as popular as the original 18 hole track.
In 2015 the course will be closed on the following dates: 02/01-17/01 & 19/01-24/01. The closure is due to the Asian Golf Tour using the course.
